Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 29, 2026
Foris (“Foris,” “we,” “us”) helps people meet through shared outdoor activities and go on real-world dates. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using Foris you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Account & verification: your email or phone number, a hashed password, and one-time verification codes.
Profile (“Blueprint”):your name, date of birth (used to confirm you are 18+ and to show your age), photos, height, city/neighborhood (“Basecamp”) and optional coordinates, gender, sexuality, who you're seeking, bio, and optional details you choose to add (e.g., languages, intentions, lifestyle answers, links to social profiles).
Activity & matching: the activities you like, your vibe-survey answers, your matches, connections, messages, availability, and scheduled dates.
Safety: selfie-verification images, reports you make or that are made about you, and your block list.
Device & usage: approximate location you provide, push-notification tokens, and basic technical data needed to operate the service.
2. How we use your information
To create your account, build your profile, match you with compatible people, enable chat and date scheduling, keep the community safe (verification, reporting, blocking, no-show accountability), send service messages and notifications, process payments, and improve the product.
3. What others can see
Your profile (photos, first name, age, and the details you add) is shown to people you are matched with. Until you connect, others in a pool are shown only as silhouettes. Only your neighborhood/city appears on your profile — never your precise address. Your exact birthday, email, and phone number are never shown to other members.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that operate Foris on our behalf, under contract, including: hosting and database infrastructure, image storage, email delivery (Resend), and payment processing (Stripe). We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
5. Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your Blueprint at any time, manage notifications and your block list in Settings, and report or block any member. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To delete your account or make a request, contact us at namanson@usc.edu.
6. Data retention & security
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Passwords and verification codes are stored only as hashes; sessions use unguessable tokens. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
7. Age requirement
Foris is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we remove accounts found to belong to minors.
8. Changes & contact
We may update this policy; we'll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Questions? Email namanson@usc.edu.
